Johnny Turgesen

Johnny slices a frontside feeble grind across the steps in Donald, Oregon

Johnny Turgesen’s first skateboarding experience began by messing around with a banana board around 9 years ago. From that point forward, his love and progression with skating took off when his hometown of Medford, Oregon built a sizeable skatepark and the skaters in the area soon began to learn how to carve, slide, ollie and kickflip all over the then new terrain available to them.

While he might have one of the filthiest nicknames in skateboarding (Mud Butt), at the ripe age of 23 Johnny definitely possesses one of the most eye-pleasing frontside ollies on the planet. His good looks come from many generations of Welsh genes handed down to him and his big smile says it all when he’s out skating with his homies. The dude is an ambassador of fun.

Johnny’s interests outside of skateboarding include regular bike rides around the street of his current home of Portland and hitting up the many diverse food carts around town. All the while, he claims that he can take on the Roach cart (Mexican) and all day everyday with a welcoming grin.

He refers to Lance Mountain and his pal “Goon” as inspirations to his skateboarding and although his bad habits and pet peeves are few, he’s very superstitious of red stained skateboards and refuses to tape one up for his personal use.

Johnny’s other sponsors include: Jack’s Board House, Ace Trucks and Bones Wheels (flow).

His words to live by are: “Bananas and skateboarding.”
